Colonial President David Motley Elected Chairman of the MBA


On Sunday, October 22, Colonial President David Motley was sworn in as the 2018 Chairman of the Mortgage Bankers Association (MBA) at the 2017 Annual Convention & Expo in Denver, Colorado.On Sunday, October 22, Colonial President David Motley was sworn in as the 2018 Chairman of the Mortgage Bankers Association (MBA) at the 2017 Annual Convention & Expo in Denver, Colorado.

Motley has been an active member of the MBA for more than 20 years. He served as the 2017 Chairman-Elect and Chairman of the MBA’s Diversity and Inclusion Committee, and has served on the MBA’s Board of Directors for six years. Motley also served on the MBA’s Residential Board of Governors, including two years as the board’s chairman.

“I am honored to serve as MBA’s 2018 Chairman and look forward to the year ahead,” Motley said. “It will my privilege to work with MBA and serve its many members, of all sizes, by focusing on the issues that most affect the residential and commercial/multifamily industries.”

Motley spoke in front of a packed house of more than 4,000 at the Colorado Convention Center. He talked about the importance of affordable housing, the need for collaboration between national, state and local MBAs, the necessity for good regulations that not only protect consumers but also encourages commonsense lending, and the importance of creating a more diverse workforce in the financial services industry.

After being sworn in as Chairman, Motley also had the privilege of interviewing two-time Super Bowl winning quarterback and future NFL Hall of Famer, Peyton Manning, who was among the keynote speakers at the convention.

Motley has enjoyed a lengthy career in the mortgage finance industry as a Loan Officer, Mortgage Production Manager, Vice President of Mortgage Production, and has served as Colonial President since 2010.
